Working Late

Tonight I have a different shift than normal again.  I am working 12pm-8pm.  It is very slow and I am bored!!  I tried to find things to keep myself occupied.  Last week when I worked this shift I made labels, but now I am stuck.  I asked for some more hanging files, but the woman in charge of supplies hasn’t had time to find me some, so I can’t finish that project.  I tried looking myself for them, but I have no idea where they could be.  It’s not something that is in a rush to be completed, but it would still be nice to have it done!

There are two students writing their exams right now.  My job is a proctor.  I give the students their test and monitor them while they are writing.  We have a TV we can watch them on, and windows into the room.  I don’t need to be in the room with them.  I write down the time they start and stop, how many pages I have given them, and if they are using a computer I put the computer number into our scheduling system in case we need to go back to check something later.

Some students write make-up exams they missed in class, some are from other colleges or institutions, and some have accommodations like extra time.  There are computer based exams and paper based.  It’s pretty interesting.  During the day it is busier.  My normal shift is from 7:45am-3:45pm.  I am only doing this shift because the girl who normally does it took a holiday.  I have yet to take a day off since I started this job.  I don’t know when I would want to book a holiday.

I do like this job better than the one I had before.  I liked that job too, there was other stuff going on that stressed me out.  There are still stresses and irritations here, but it is a lot better.  I don’t know if I would do this forever, nor what I would rather do, but it is good for now!!

Lately I’ve been feeling a little blahhh. Some things have upset my natural schedule, I had to work a later shift last Thursday and then again tomorrow, which makes me feel super tired when I work my normal early shift the following day. It also throws my sleeping pattern off a bit.

Something I really don’t like is when I don’t have to go to work right away. So I end up sleeping in as much as possible. I don’t know what it is, but I just find I can’t get the motivation to get things done before work. I like to get up and go to work, then use the energy I have at the end of the day to do a couple errands. I also like to get things done on the weekends.

I’m not much for changing in my schedules. I like that early shift!!

I’m not sure what is making me feel so blah. Hormones, a little too much sleep that one day, changes in schedule, or maybe I don’t get out enough. I’ve actually done some good things with my friends this past week though, so that helps. Maybe I’m waiting for something to happen. I’m not sure, maybe it’s the winter! Just blahhh!!

I spent the day in my pyjamas! I didn’t get dressed until like 4:30pm. Talk about a lazy Sunday! The only reason I got dressed is because I’m headed to see Bad Moms with a few girlfriends. I’m excited about it, should be a fun time! Otherwise I might still be sitting here in my pyjamas with Bronn.

We got up and went for our morning walk at like 9:30am. Then had breakfast and coffee. Then, for some reason, we watched an episode of Slasher. It’s not a normal show that I watch, I’m only on episode 3. It’s on Netflix and it’s pretty good. Then we laid in bed and watched the latest episode of Criminal Minds. It’s was a pretty weird one! Then, I read my book and we had a nap.

We got up a while later and went for another walk, then I had a shower and Bronn and I had our dinner. I addressed some Christmas cards while watching Lethal Weapon (the TV show). I’m just waiting until it’s time to head to the theatre. Still feeling pretty lazy, but that’s okay sometimes!!

Thrill Ride

Tonight I went out to a hockey game. The team lost, but we had a lot of laughs. Plus, the puck drop was done by a service dog. That was really cool!!

It was the drive home that was terrifying!

The game was on the south side of the city, and I live on the west side. When we came out of the arena there was a very thick fog, which seemed to get worse as I drove away from the arena. It was a thick fog with pitch black on the other side of the fog. So, driving down the highway all you can see is lights. Tail lights and traffic lights, with a slight glow from the street lights. I could not see the houses on the other side of the street lights.

The first stop light I came to, I hit the brake at first and was sliding. I’m glad I tried it while I was quite far back, because I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to stop! Thankfully when I was watching Scorpion the other day they mentioned lightly tapping on the gas, so I tried that with the brake and it worked. I did have a bit of a slow start to get going again, and just when I was starting to pick of speed a deer jumped in front of me! Lucky it was fast because no one hit it. You just never know when wildlife is going to pop up, even in the middle of the city here! My heart was pounding, and I took off my gloves so that I could ensure a better grip on the steering wheel.

Everyone was driving very cautiously, probably because of the extremely low visibility. When I finally made it across the bridge to the west side the traffic was a lot lighter. I looked over when I went under a streetlight and noticed that one of my gloves was holding onto the passenger side door for dear life! What a ride!!

Things I Love, but Will Probably Never Own…

  • A pool or a swim spa
  • A zoo or a farm
  • Most of the fashion I’ve pinned on Pinterest
  • Airplanes
  • Italy
  • My friends and family (haha, can’t own people)
  • Dragons
  • The shows Supernatural, Riverdale, The Big Bang Theory, Lucifer, and The Goldbergs. Or any TV show or movie, but I can own the DVD copy!
  • All the dogs!!

It’s hard to think of things you love but would never own!! What would you say?

Brain Fart

My brain is in a fog. I don’t know what to say. I keep trying to think of something to write about, but I can’t quite grasp my thoughts. It’s very frustrating!! My goal was to write something each day, but today I just can’t get anything together. I hope I’m not coming down with a cold!!

As nice as it is to say yes, it’s okay to say no. If you don’t feel like doing something, don’t do it! There’s no point in saying yes to something you don’t want to do, then making a poor excuse not to do it at the last minute.

It’s good to say yes to things that get you out of your comfort zone. However, when you’re feeling overwhelmed because you’ve been doing a lot and you need to take it easy, then it’s okay to say no. No apology needed, no need to give a reason.

It’s okay to say no.

First a walk to Bronn can be more comfortable. Then into my pyjamas. Sometimes I watch a show, then I read for a while. Always check to make sure my alarms are set. I have four, just in case. Make sure I’ve taken my pills and vitamins. Get comfy and warm, then get up to go to the bathroom. Repeat a couple times, all the water I drank all day seems to be stored up. Finally, ready to turn out the lights. Goodnight!

Walking in the Snow

It’s quite peaceful. There’s barely anyone around, just the occasional car creeping by, tires crunching through the snow trying to keep traction. Everything is so sparkly and white. The air is very fresh on the lungs, and as long as you’re bundled up with a hat, scarf, gloves and warm boots, the cold is not so bad. Here and there is a snowman, back again for the winter. Some parts are nicely shovelled, and some parts are rough, but my boots keep me sturdy. Bronn leaps through the deep parts, sticking his face in here and there to catch a scent and then leaping off again. All I can hear is the crunch and squeak of my boots against the ice underneath. I look up and see sparkles and flakes falling down to my eyelashes. It might be a bit scary to drive in some days, but I don’t mind winter as much as some people.
